Gero Onsen flows from the Hida River basin in Gifu Prefecture. It is counted among Japan’s “Top Three Hot Springs” and boasts a distinguished history of approximately 1,000 years.
The unique appeal of Gero Onsen is further highlighted by a hot spring town that harmoniously blends the lively atmosphere along the Hida River with the charm of the surrounding mountain villages.
Gero Onsen is also known as a beauty-enhancing hot spring thanks to its abundant 84°C waters and alkaline simple spring quality. The waters are said to help remove old skin cells to make skin smooth and silky.

Kubonouchi’s notable manga, Tsurumoku Bachelor Dormitory and Chocolat, have been widely distributed both domestically and internationally, translated for publication, and adapted into television series. He is currently focusing on illustration work.
He uses colored pencils and markers to create beautifully rendered, lively characters. His work has captivated audiences of all ages, earning particular popularity among younger generations. For NHK, he was responsible for the original story and character designs for the anime Para Athletics, part of the Tokyo Paralympics and Parasports promotion project Ani × Par: Who Is Your Hero?
Following his work on projects such as Kiki’s Delivery Service, Heidi: Girl of the Alps, and Sazae-san, he also handled character design for Nissin Foods’ Cup Noodles TV commercials in the HUNGRY DAYS series. Additionally, he created the character designs and main visual for the music video of YOASOBI’s song Taisho Roman (2021).
